Soroptimist week 2012

About the Icelandic Soroptimist Week

For the twelfth time, the club of Hafnarfjordur and Gardabaer announces the very popular "Icelandic Soroptimist Week." This one week in Iceland has been offered to Soroptimist sisters all over the world since 1989. Every year we get many requests to continue and therefore we are very happy to offer this unique experience once more in the summer of 2012.

You will get the chance to visit some beautiful places in the West and South-West area of Iceland. That includes going into the mountains and out to the sea.
Take a look at these slides to get an idea of the places you will be visiting.

We will be offering you accommodation in a modern school building. You will be sleeping on mattresses, 6-8 persons per room.  During the trip to the Snæfellsnes peninsula you will be sleeping in a guesthouse and on the trip to the mountain area you will be sleeping in a mountain hut. You will need to bring a sleeping bag.

The club sisters will be participating all the time, i.e. cooking your meals and joining you on the trips and other events.

Please note:

  • Participants are most welcome to bring companions, husbands, children and friends.
  • Participants will have to arrange their own flights to and from Iceland. Look for special offers.
  • Participants are responsible for their own travel insurance.
  • The maximum number of participants will be 40. First come first served.

For further information please contact us at week@soroptimist.is.

Please download this leaflet and send it to anyone that you think would be interested in knowing about this week.

We look forward to seeing you in Iceland.

Our sincere sisterly regards,
Your sisters in the Club of Hafnarfjordur and Gardabaer

Note: The tour is organized by the Soroptimist Club of Hafnarfjordur and Gardabaer. The purpose of the tour is fund raising for charity purposes. All sisters in the club participate on a voluntary basis in the preparatory work and the work during the week. The name of the club refers to two small towns within a 10 km distance from Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.

Please visit this website again for the latest news on the trip.
